The Boston Public Health Commission announced today that as part of Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s Boston Moves for Health program, Fitness on the Plaza will be extended through the month of September. The free exercise classes on City Hall Plaza – including morning and evening bootcamp and Zumba® – have seen overwhelming turnout and positive feedback. All classes were scheduled to end Labor Day weekend.

“These free fitness classes are too good to end,” said Mayor Menino. “We’ve seen such a positive reaction. People love being able to get out and get active in a whole variety of new and different ways.”

What:  The Z Spot Zumba® Classes on the Plaza
When:  Every Monday night, 6:00pm – 7:00pm until Sept. 24 ** Note new start time **

What:  Fitcorp Bootcamp on the Plaza
When:  Every Wednesday night, 5:30pm – 6:30pm until Sept. 26

What:  Beantown Bootcamp on the Plaza
When:  Every Friday morning, 6:30am – 7:30am until Sept. 28

Boston Moves for Health is an ambitious initiative to improve the health and wellness of the city by increasing access to free and low-cost physical activities and healthy living resources. The Mayor has challenged the city to collectively lose 1 million pounds and move 10 million miles over the next year.
